The Maryland Gliders Have Been Placed!

Just a quick update on the gliders who needed a home (a post I'd made here): These gliders have a foster home for now. They may end up becoming permanent residents there, I'm not sure, but if the foster home can not keep them, she will let me know, and I'll update as needed.

Meanwhile, if there is anyone out there who can recommend an awesome vet who tends to sugar gliders, these little guys need neutered. If you know of a vet in the Pasadena, MD area, please, let me know.

Whoa . . . contemplate this!

For those people who have long commutes (we never have enough time, and now, with gas prices what they are today, we never have enough money, either), so we sometimes wish for faster, easier; yet simpler (and safer) ways to get to work. I've fancied, at times, that I'd like to have my own personal helicopter (and a very capable and handsome pilot), so that I could land on the roof of my building and rappel down - straight into my room - just like MacGyver, or to maybe have a "Jetson's backpack" - and jettison my way in to work, or to even have a champion Formula One driver get me there in style. But my favorite "idle fantasy" has always been to bend the space-time continuum by playing "I Dream of Jeannie", which is to: Just think it - blink it - and BE THERE (and to look THAT good at 8:00 in the morning, to boot - well, if I am dreaming - why not?) That is, until I read this. Who knows, at some point, time travel may one day be as commonplace as hopping in a car. I'm sure my grandparents, who moved into Ohio on a horse and buggy (in their youth), never dreamed we'd be able to travel as we do today - in cars.

I've always been fascinated with the fields physics and astrononomy (dad graduated with a degree in astronomy, and he subsequently joined The United States Air Force), and I've had classes in both fields (in high school and college), but when I read up on the subject, I just sit back in amazement and awe. Whoa. How cool is this stuff? For more information on twisted space around black holes, click here. To play the animation, click here.

Until that day comes, since this is a Saturday, I might as well enjoy the day, but come Monday morning, it's back to work for this old gal in my sexy little Honda! Thank grateful thanks, admiration, and appreciation to NASA and The Goddard Space Flight Center for use of their multimedia and information.

WOW! I'm not at all easily impressed, but THIS glider video totally rocks!

Check this out: It's nothing short of incredible. I should point out that this is not my personal video, glider setup, or my gliders. I found this within the glider community, and I thought it should be shared. KUDOS to jonglider! Glider temple architect, "glider priest", producer, director, stage manager, and a truly dedicated and loving glider poppa-supreme -- all rolled into one amazing guy!

Jon, now you've went and done it (and I don't even know you!). Man, do you have any idea how many people would LOVE to have something like this? I know I sure would! Thank you so much for sharing your labor of love!

The original video can be found here. I first discovered this video from a link at LGG, which presented the whole story of this remarkably gifted young man and his love for his gliders at GliderCENTRAL.

We're "almost" there!

The Maryland gliders are pending placement. Should anything change (on either side), I will update here. For now, though, it looks like they're soon to be placed in a new "home, sweet, home"!

MARYLAND: Two male gliders need a PERMANENT loving home!

I have just been contacted to help place two male gliders from my involvement with The All 4 Gliders Rescue Project. An **APPROVED** All 4 Gliders Rescue Application (linked below) will be required, and ALL references will be checked. This lady wants only the best possible home for these boys.

The story behind these two boys:
"We have two males that were rescued by a girl from some teenagers who were blowing cigerette smoke into their faces and not taking proper care of them. She brought them into the Petco where my son works, and he brought them home.

We got them a big cage, toys, food from Suncoast Gliders, Vionate, RepCal calcium and cleaning supplies. We don't let them out of the cage as we have four cats. They like all the food that Suncoast said they would, and we do not feed them grapes any longer as they thought it might not be good for them. They have the wheel for exercise, and another one for trimming their nails. When I learned about those wheels, they really got a lot happier.

They are sort of tame but we have not been handling them at all. We have four cats and lots of other things in cages, but it's the cats I would worry about the most if they got loose. They really need someone who has more time...and now I have to try and rent out the room where I have them. Plus, I've got an elderly mother, and I work full time so they don't get the attention they should have.

If you can find them someone who will take good care of them they can have everything I have bought. I also have cleaning supplies for the cage etcetera."

You will can download the application here. The file will require Microsoft Word (or an MS Word-compatible program).

Oh, lord, my Sprout had better never do this!

But she is that ornery!
