The Metamorphosis: Sweet Baby Angel to Howling Screeching Demon!
Someone come save me! Well, not really. We've finally got this under control, and Baby Sprout has been the dream baby from Day One. But this past few days to a week, she's been a nightmare. I've never heard such noises, and my sassy little teen was nothing like this when she was a baby, I swear! Poor little Sprout. Anyway, we finally got to the bottom of this problem: This kid as at least 12 teeth, and she bites like a fiend to show them off. I am going to have to break her from that, somehow!
Now, when you hear these kinds of noises, you go through the mental checklist: Has she been hurt? Is she hungry? Does she have a messy diaper? Is she in pain - or is she having a massive temper tantrum - and if so, for what reason? Is she fevered? Has she been possessed by an evil demon? Ok, not really this last item, but you get the point. She's stubborn, too. Very stubborn, so trying to look into her little mouth is like trying to find the Holy Grail. Nearly impossible - and it takes forever.
Anyway, I've been using Baby Tylenol to ease the pain, teething rings, ice-cold 100% pure white cotton washcloths so she can chew on them, and (lastly) MY ARM; trust me, this is not offered up voluntarily!
Generally speaking, she is really a very good baby, really, a TRUE BLESSING, but this past week has been just horrendous. My teen has sworn that she will never have kids as a result of this week with Sprout. There's been no soothing or pleasing her. To look into that little mouth, you have to tickle her, or let her get so mad that she wails (with her uvula flapping away. I hate that. This little kid can be really loud)! Anyway, these teeth are nearly through; so, maybe she'll go back to being "Little Miss Easy-Going Dream Baby" soon. I hope so. Hopefully life will return to normal - until the next set comes in. They are coming in pairs, but those "two-sided" teeth are really something!
For anyone who is in the same boat that I am, here are some
baby teething tips. You can never be too prepared. Trust me.
PS: Baby Orajel only ticks her off. It numbs her little tongue and makes her scream even louder.
